Airborne Systems

Countermeasures Dispensing Systems (CMDS)

Petards Joyce-Loebl provides a full range of technical support services for CMDS - including the licensed manufacture of the internationally renowned ALE-47 Threat Adaptive Countermeasures Dispensing System (TACDS) - that are in use with the British Army, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy across a range of Rotary and Fixed wing platforms.

The ALE-47 is being integrated into a range of Defensive Aids Suites (DAS), and Petards Joyce-Loebl is supporting these developments with their wealth of technical knowledge in installation design and trials support.

Missile Warning Systems (MWS)

Petards Joyce-Loebl's Gateshead site is equipped with a full depot repair and refurbishment facility for the AAR-47 Missile Warning System equipment providing a cost- effective, fast turnaround service.

This was established as the first full facility outside of the US, and is approved as a European Base for maintenance of the full range of AAR-47 versions including the Laser Warning function of the (V)2 generation.

Ground Based Systems

SimulatorsReal Threat Systems

Petards Joyce-Loebl has experience of providing a full on-site and depot level repair, refurbishment, and maintenance service facility for 'real threat' systems including the SA-6, the SA-8, and the ZSU 23. In addition to sourcing the original equipment manufacturer's components Petards' engineering team were able to design, develop, and source suitable alternatives either by reverse engineering or by incorporating modern, solid state components. The engineering team has broad experience in the mechanical, electro - mechanical, and microwave aspects of the vehicles.

Petards Joyce-Loebl provides a full engineering support service for the Threat Simulators based at RAF Spadeadam and, over the course of recent years, has fully refurbished and modernised the equipment, including the repackaging of the J-Band Emissions Threat Simulator (JETS) from the ISO Container into a standard Land Rover vehicle producing a flexible, mobile facility.

Pre-Flight Message CreationPre-Flight Message Creation

Petards Joyce-Loebl specialises in the licensed manufacture, development, and support of a range of countermeasures Dispensing Systems, Missile Approach Warners, and Ground-Based Threat Systems.

Petards Joyce-Loebl has developed a Pre-Flight Message / Mission Data File Validation Facility for the ALE 47 TACDS that is installed on the majority of the UK's military aircraft.

The validation equipment allows the Service's engineers to fully exercise a development PFM/MDF, including its integration with associated elements of a Defensive Aids Suite, before it is installed on an aircraft. This facility enables enormous reductions in flight line testing and verification to be made.

Petards Joyce-Loebl also manufacture and supply a wide range of related support and test equipment including:
